Grandpa Ott's Morning Glory

Grandpa Ott's Morning Glory

$5.00Price

Ipomea purpurea

This old heirloom variety came originally from Seed Saver’s Exchange as Grandpa Ott was Diane Ott Whealy’ s grandfather. Self-seeding hardy annual vine growing to 15 feet long with beautiful deep purple flowers with a reddish star. Climbs on trellises or fences. Reseeds readily, but easy to hoe out if unwanted. I love flowering vines in the garden, especially on a trellis over the path at the entrance or in the back of a flower bed on a trellis. Bee and Butterfly friendly. Easy to grow.

Cultivation:

Full Sun or Partial Shade

Depth: 1/4 - 1/2"

Spacing: 6 - 8 inches

Days to maturity: 70 days to flowering

Germination: 7 - 14 days in small pots and transplant or direct seed into garden soil and protect from bird and snail damage.

All morning glory seeds are toxic to people and animals.

Nicking the seeds with a file or soaking overnight will help germination.
