The next generation of Hawai'i's heat tolerant lettuces, an improved Manoa lettuce called Hilo Queen. Designed to withstand Hawai'i’s hot and humid conditions, this high performing leafy green was developed by Dr. Russell Nagata of Hilo with seed grown by Glenn Teves on Molokai.
Hilo Queen has all of the qualities of the classic, soft and puckered leafed Manoa with a crunchy mid-rib, with an additional layer of heat tolerance. This lettuce was one of the best performers under hot conditions in the field.
