Molokai Filipino Landrace Pumpkin
Curcurbita moschata
The Molokai Filipino Landrace Pumpkin is locally known as kalabasa (or calabaza) and belongs to the species Curcurbita moschata, which thrives in hot and humid tropical climates. Filipino pumpkins have a beautiful mottled green-and-tan rind with sweet, bright orange flesh and are a staple in Filipino cuisine.
Curcurbita moschata pumpkins carry significant genetic tolerance to powdery mildew, downy mildew, and a variety of tropical mosaic viruses. Moschata pumpkins are valued for their dense, solid stems that resist squash vine borers and other pests from boring deep into vines.
