Rattlesnake Pole Bean

$5.00Price

I have been growing these lovely purple striped green beans in Kona for 20 years. They are my go-to green bean! I love their delicious refined green bean flavor, how easy they are to spot on the vine, and that they grow in prolific clusters in a variety of climates.

The Rattlesnake Pole Bean is thought to have originated in gardens of the Native Peoples of southwestern North America. These beautiful purple streaked green beans are an adaptable heirloom that grows well in Hawaii’s micro climates.

Plant seeds directly in the ground or plant them in your nursery to transplant in your garden later. It is important to keep seeds evenly moist during germination and make sure you have good trellis for them to climb on. Space green beans at least 1 foot apart in a sunny location in well composted soil. Depending on your location Rattle Snake pole bean  will mature between 50-75 days. For a continuous supply remember to keep them picked and plant a new round when you harvest your first big full handful. If your green beans produce more beans than you can eat let them mature on the vine, then save them for seed or make some chili!
